Why ActiveRx?
A lifestyle and patient-centered approach:

Merged seamlessly with our treatment protocols and, uniquely, both interactive and highly pro-active. We utilize evidence-based Best Practice approaches in all three areas of service: physical therapy, metabolic health and wellness.
Wellness-Oriented Physical Therapy... a different kind of experience

We are the only clinic to offer a groundbreaking system specifically designed for older adults that we call “Wellness Oriented Physical Therapy”. Our system uniquely merges our state of the art diagnosis and treatment protocols with evidence-based approaches to lifestyle and wellbeing.

Wellness Oriented Physical Therapy” goes far beyond traditional physical therapy. It is a ground-breaking approach, both pro-active and lifestyle-oriented. Our singular focus on older adults separates us from traditional Physical Therapy which is typically set up to be ‘all things to all people’ and has a primary focus on the injury or health condition of the patient, with little or no consideration of the impact of lifestyle either pre- or post-treatment.

While there will always be a need for acute treatment, being pro-active about your health just makes more sense! It is far less time consuming, more effective and, frankly, cheaper, than the traditional approach of doing nothing until something ‘needs fixing’. Being pro-active about your health enables you to identify subtle signs and symptoms that can be ‘early warning signals’ for future, more serious and debilitating, conditions. The earlier these signals are identified the easier they are to deal with, in some cases even without medication.

The beauty of the ActiveRx approach is that it is equally effective for physician referred patients with a specific diagnosis, as well as those who are ‘self referred’ and simply wish to be better informed about their current health and what they can do about it. Our unique approach is rapidly establishing a first class reputation as increasing numbers of physicians refer their patients to us. In addition our community outreach programs are also connecting with more and more senior organizations and institutions who see the importance and value of our lifestyle-oriented approach.

For referred patients, our state of the art diagnosis and treatment protocols are designed around patient-centric goals. At the same time we also conduct an in-depth functional, behavioral and lifestyle assessment. The results of this assessment are used by our care providers as an important part of an ongoing treatment plan. This not only highlights potential areas of lifestyle improvement but our behavioral analysis provides an insight into how these improvements are best able to play into the patient’s ongoing recovery process.

For self referred or community outreach individuals we typically provide the same in-depth functional, behavioral and lifestyle assessment together with a comprehensive print out and analysis of results. We recommend meeting with a member of our behavioral staff to discuss the meaning and implications of the assessment results and to determine what future steps may be taken.

For both patient and non-patients the assessment can, if desired, form the basis of an optional group-based behavior change program - The Stanford Healthy Lifestyle Program (SHLP). This is one of the most successful and highly regarded behavior change programs in the United States. It has an impressive record of success with individuals who are ready to change their lives for the better - perhaps have even tried before - but have not yet found their right ‘path’. The SHLP gives us an additional, powerful way of merging the clinical with the behavioral and dramatically increases the patient’s chances of Aging Successfully. This is the ultimate focus of Wellness Oriented Physical Therapy and of our highest goal – which is to be in service to
